Position: Commercial Tire Service Technician
Job Duties
The Commercial Tire Service Technician is a high-energy, physically demanding position. Successful candidates will be responsible for the service and repair of tires, primarily on commercial semi-trucks and trailers, and other similarly-sized vehicles. Tasks include mounting and dismounting, flat repairs, balancing, inflations, etc. Upon completion of training and a probationary period, Commercial Tire Service Technicians are expected to diagnose and identify common tire problems, make recommendations for necessary repairs and replacements, and complete assigned tasks with minimum supervision. Successfully trained Technicians may also be assigned a company service vehicle to perform on-site and roadside tire service. Additional duties may include loading and unloading of delivery trucks, housekeeping in shop and warehouse areas, and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Necessary Skills
Candidates should be able to read and write English, including reading and writing work orders, reading and understanding manufacturer specification charts, etc. Must have a valid Indiana or Kentucky driver’s license, with a good driving record.
Physical Requirements
Due to the physical nature of the job, candidates must be willing to submit to a medical inquiry, including a pre-employment drug screening and recurring random drug screenings. Position demands frequent standing, squatting, and bending. Frequent handling of tires weighing 75-100 lbs., and tire assemblies weighing up to 200 lbs., including some lifting and assisted lifting. Candidate must demonstrate their ability to safely lift, stack, unstack, and maneuver truck tires. Jobsites may be exposed to the elements, including heat and cold, rain and snow, dirt and dust, etc. Must be able to wear necessary safety equipment, including steel-toe shoes, gloves, eye and ear protection, reflective clothing, and occasionally hard hats. Uniforms and safety equipment will be provided by the company, with the exception of steel-toe shoes, which the candidate must provide, and will receive a reimbursement credit for.
Other Requirements
Punctuality and dependability are a must. This position also includes frequent interaction with customers and fellow employees. Successful candidates should have a friendly, helpful demeanor, and a positive attitude.
